Respectful Relationships

Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships (the 4Rs), is a school-based program mandated by the Victorian Government. This initiative forms part of the Victorian Government’s response to the Royal Commission into Family Violence.  It is aimed at providing a holistic approach to comprehensively address the drivers of gender-based violence and to create a future free from such violence through addressing the following areas:

  • Emotional literacy
  • Personal strengths
  • Positive coping
  • Problem solving
  • Stress management
  • Help seeking
  • Gender and identity
  • Positive gender relations

Restorative Practice

Restorative practice is a strategy that seeks to repair relationships that have been damaged, including those damaged through bullying. It does this by bringing about a sense of remorse and restorative action on the part of the offender and forgiveness by the victim.

At Boronia Heights Primary School we use restorative conversations as a part of our approach to managing student behaviour.  By rebuilding damaged relationships and allowing all parties to consider their feelings and actions, we are able to better support students to make positive change.

Boronia Heights is an active member of “Bullying No Way” this includes:

  • Lessons focusing on “what is bullying?”
  • action to take if you see it happen
  • action to take if it is happening to you
  • workshops to empower students
  • whole school approach to bullying
  • teaching strategies to navigate conflict
