Welcome to the BHPS Library!
At Boronia Heights Primary School we have a well-resourced library with over 11,000 books! Each year we purchase new books to ensure students have access to the latest series and books that interest them. We value great books to help with developing our student’s literacy skills and grow their knowledge.
All classes will have one library session per week and students are expected to bring a library bag to protect our books on the journey to and from home. This can be any type of bag; homemade, purchased or a recycled shopping bag.
At BHPS we use a management system called Accessit. Families are able to access our Library from home on any device. Accessit allows you to view what your child has on loan and when books are due back, explore the books we have in our Library and place books on reserve.
Here is the link (you may like to bookmark this):

You can also access our Library through our school website using this link and clicking on the Library Access link:
https://www.boroniahtsps.vic.edu.au/teaching-learning/library-resource-centre/
When you follow the link you will see our guest webpage. This is full of information, the library timetable, reminders and new books on a carousel to explore. There is also a search bar where you can enter any book titles, topics, authors or series to find books of interest. All students can access our Library on their BYOD, school devices and our library search monitor.
To log in as your child and view their loans and due dates, click on guest in the top right corner.
Your child’s Compass login is their library login. eg BEN0099
Passwords are as follows:
Prep – Year 2 – school
Years 3-6 – Boronia
Our Library is divided into Junior and Senior areas and our BHPS Accessit main page reflects this. Junior students (P-2), will view books relevant to their age and so will senior students (3-6).
Once logged in, click on your student’s name in the top right corner, options will appear. Click on My Borrowing Details to bring up current loans and history.
When viewing current loans the due dates are on the right of each book.
PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE ANY PASSWORDS! If this happens accidentally, please contact me via email ASAP.
Loan periods:
Prep – 1 book for 1 week
Year 1 & 2 – 2 books for 2 weeks
Year 3 – 6 – 4 books for 4 weeks
Overdue notices are emailed to Parent A weekly. Notice 1 is a reminder to please return books within the week. Notice 2 is a second reminder that books have not yet been returned and we ask they are done so promptly. Books not returned within this time frame are considered lost and notice 3 therefore has a fee to cover the cost of the lost books. The fee of $10 per book is payable at our school office. Students can return books in our returns tub inside the library door during their library session or before/after school any day.
Students can reserve 1 book at a time if it is currently on loan to someone else, by dragging the front cover of the book and dropping it on the tab reserve at the top. When you click on the reserve tab you can view or also delete a current reserve if needed.
We have some exciting library events throughout the year including Book Week (book character dress up day and an incursion), National Simultaneous Storytime and a Book Fair.
Each term we run a Scholastic Book Club where catalogues are sent home to all family’s and you have the opportunity to purchase new and wonderful books for home, at great low prices. Orders can be made online or with cash and more information will come out when our first book club is on.
Have fun exploring our Library from your devices at home! Email me or come in and see me if you have any questions, I am always happy to help.
