Swimming trials and District swimming
Thank you to the seventeen Year 3-6 students and their families who registered and attended our swimming trials at Knox Leisureworks before school this week. All were attempting to beat qualifying times that had been set for them to reach the next stage of competition – the Rowville District Swimming Championships. Congratulations to Zoe E. (6C), Lana B. (5A), Alex A. (5B), and Fletcher E. (4A) who will be representing our school at the District Swimming Championships next week.
Active Club
Active Club is starting up next week on Tuesday 11th February and we have some exciting changes for this year. Firstly, Active Club will run in Terms 1 & 4 to take advantage of the expected better weather and sunlight. Secondly, by holding it in Term 1, it can serve as great preparation for the upcoming whole school Cross Country event that will be run at the end of Term 1. Thirdly, we are extending it to two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) to help with that preparation. And finally, Active Club will run before school so that other family members may join their children during active club!!! Only students will use the active club lap counting cards, however don’t let that stop your parents from getting involved. For those unfamiliar with Active Club – it is open to all students and year levels, and encourages students to be healthy and active by completing as many circuits of both our ovals during the participating times as possible. Running, jogging, and walking are all accepted – it’s simply about getting moving! And what a great start to the day it would be. With the increased opportunities, this year’s challenge is for participants to complete the equivalent distance of a marathon (42.2kms) across the year – that’s 132 circuits around our double ovals. For those students who can complete the challenge, a special reward and recognition awaits. Active club will run from 8:20am to 8:45am on Tuesday and Thursday morning up until Tuesday 25th March in Term 1. Participants will need to enter via the Phipps Ave gate next to our OSHC / STEAM portable. We hope to see you there 🙂
