Prep artists created abstract artworks using five lines and ten circles. Inspired by the work of Wassily Kandinsky, they explored different types of lines and circles of varying sizes to create a unique painting.
Year 1 – Shape Castles
Year 1 artists explored the work of Paul Klee, focusing on his famous artwork Castle and Sun. Inspired by his use of shapes and colour, students created their own castles using geometric shapes while learning the German words for the shapes and colours used in their artwork.
Year 2 – Water Lilies
Year 2 artists explored the artwork of Claude Monet and used his famous water lily paintings as inspiration for their own artworks. Students experimented with texture by combining paint, glue and salt to create the sparkling effect of light reflecting on water.
Year 3 – Harvest to Table Aprons
As part of the Harvest to Table program, Year 3 artists designed aprons featuring colourful fruit and vegetables. They explored composition and bold colour choices to create vibrant designs that celebrate fresh produce and healthy eating.
Year 4 – Desert Landscapes
Year 4 students created vibrant desert landscapes by blending warm colours to form a smooth gradient sky. They carefully considered the composition of their artwork before adding silhouettes of Australian animals, creating an eye-catching contrast against the colourful background.
Year 5 – Abstract Self-Portraits
Year 5 artists explored the portraits of Sandra Silberzweig as inspiration for their own abstract self-portraits. Students used oil pastels to outline their designs and blended analogous colour schemes within each section of the face.
